Our Story

Bert Knapp is a believer in Jesus Christ, an avid dog lover, and the proud owner of his own fur baby, Bruce the Bull. His life is a testament to our company's belief in second chances. Bert is also the founder and president of Thugging to Loving Ministries, and his personal story is one of transformation and redemption.

Bert is a man on a mission. Growing up, he faced immense hardship and abuse, which led him down a dark path. At a young age, he turned to drugs, sex, money, violence, and gang affiliation to cope with the pain and hurt. His “thuggish” persona and thirst for street credibility led him to a life of crime.

Eventually, Bert's actions caught up with him, and he found himself in prison. Many believed all hope was lost for him. But during his 18 years of incarceration, Bert underwent a radical transformation through a prison ministry that introduced him to the love of the Father, giving him a fresh start and a renewed heart.

Since his release, Bert has defied the odds. He was discharged from parole, maintained his sobriety, stayed faithful to God, and has become a loving father and active member of society and the church. He worked as a Program Director at a sober living house, Dads With A Purpose, and as a Street Outreach Pastor for The ARK Church. He also served as a student mentor at King Elementary and participated in various community programs, including juvenile detention and at-risk youth initiatives. Bert is an active member of Help DSM, collaborating with city pastors, Christian leaders, and nonprofit organizations.

Through Thugging to Loving Ministries, Bert reaches at-risk youth, the homeless, drug addicts, gang members, convicts, and anyone struggling with hopelessness. With his unique background, he connects with these individuals in a way few others can. His mission is to help people succeed, find joy, feel loved, and discover the calling God has placed on their lives.
